To be correct or to not be is the question?

The Q Six Castle and the Social Cost: Capitulo Uno

This is the beginning of something real. Why you may ask? What could it be?

The ‘something real’ is the social cost I have to pay for the rest of my life. And the beginning starts now.

I’ve mentioned to you all about the meaning behind what I assumed ‘social cost’ was defined to be. Well, I asked for clarification from a great co-worker of mine, and she explained to me what I’ve met to say before: “sunk cost fallacy.” Yes, I was wrong to get you all hyped up, my apologies. But, oh well. The title seems convincing enough, so whenever I tie in my story to ‘social cost,’ remember I am referring to sunk cost fallacy.

As I was having a conversation with my coworker about work, a thought appear in my mind, and all I could hear was “Leave this place. You know what to be a nurse!” Immediately, I asked my coworker has she ever thought about changing a career. She explained herself and later told me about the sunk cost fallacy.

“Oh wow! The what again?” as my face expressed confusion underneath my N95 mask.

She explained an example of how people will begin at a job, and begin to notice ‘red flags’ in what they do, but lie to themselves saying, “You know what, if I work hard to get promoted in the company, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad later.” Oh, the lies we tell ourselves!

Afterward, I ponder on what the theory was all about for several days.

Sunk cost theory is any past cost that has already been paid and cannot be recovered. As being said, when expecting one thing in your life to be great, but it ends up becoming a situation out of your control or not as great — Hint, hint! That’s a sign you are sunk into the deep abyss!

Catherine Keener, who plays Missy Armitage stirs a spoon with tea in her fine china mug in the 2017 movie, ‘Get Out.’

So look.

If you’re in a place in your life where you feel as if there is something that you don’t think will work out anymore. By all means, listen to your conscience. I’m sure as humans, the more we listen to that ‘gut feeling,’ the more we wouldn’t be stressed in the present.

Preaching to the choir! (A writer with Lifehack.org, Michael Davidson has a few examples if it doesn’t make sense to you). Click on ‘few examples.’

Overall, I am paying for something in return to be great where I am now. As I continue to shadow others who are in different positions within the industry, I can say there is one particular position in the future that I am highly uninterested in.

As of now, I will continue to seek this dream position I want to achieve, but with a plan. And if the plan doesn’t work out, maybe after all I should consider being a nurse? Who knows.

Until next time.
